First semi realistic rendering trial 
I'm asking for critique, so any advice would really help! 
My goals with this painting were:
- to get a feeling of how to paint more realistically
- try to paint without line art (that was the most tricky for me!!
)
- capture some more subtle expression other than the usual plain joy / surprise / neutral faces that I usually do
- use the colors more wisely to direct the attention towards the face of the character (which is something that I never learned when I was studying watercolors
) and be more aware of my use of warm and cool colors 
- I kept the composition simple not to overwhelm myself!Feb 26, 2021

Looks really good! Proportions are good and I think you did a good job at subtle emotions.
One thing is think about using colors to really sell a mood, like redness around the eyes and nose, as well as bringing more contrast that the dark sky provides. Masking layers like multiply, screen, and overlay are really useful in digital painting so take advantage of them! ^^
Besides that, try not to paint in strokes with digital. Using a brush irl gives textures and good shapes usually, but digital brushes need more guidance. Start off with using just 3 values to give form using a hard brush and go from there!
Marco Bucci and Sinix have good videos on painting digitally that expand on more stuff I stated so I suggest watching them! I improved a lot from them!

•This looks great! I think you really managed to bring out the emotion in this piece ^^ as for any advice; I suggest using some more dark and sharp shadows and highlights to define the features more, especially around the hair. Great work!
