I don’t believe for shit that Instagram will just shut down the post function as that’s the thing they’ve built the platform on - celebrities needs it and if Instagram does decide to shut it down I’m decently sure they stand for a lawsuit with TikTok.

They're likely panicking as they're seeing engagement drop, while tiktok is only growing as a platform.
The thing is, id say that engagement is down on Instagram because the algorithm is ruthless. It punishes smaller accounts to get more engagement to the bigger accounts. And it's discouraging people from using the platform. If they realigned their algorithm to push lesser known accounts/ images too, I bet engagement would skyrocket.
I think a large attraction to tiktok is its algorithm is very good at giving people the exact content they want on their feed (whereas ig does NOT). And I don't think it punishes smaller accounts at all?
Honestly, I think ditching IG as your main art platform is a good idea, but for a different reason. It's toxic as hell, doesn't reward creators, and everyone is competing against each other. Other apps are better for posting on, don't kill quality and foster communities rather than competition.
