Second entry for BTS Hexed Fest on Twitter.Although it features Kim Taehyung, I wanted to depict part of my culture, so I referenced Southern Mediterranean paganism: the tambourine references tarantism – a phenomenon of restless dancing mania that is believed to be caused by the bite of a spider: when you were bitten and possessed by the spider, the only way to exorcise death was by dancing to the sound of the tambourine. Other symbols of the culture are the pomegranate (nature, abundance and fertility), red peppers (apotropaic symbol, fertility, lucky charms), bees (were believed to be symbols of rebirth and divinity). Ivy is a symbol of Dionysian wildness and the wavy pattern of his top is honestly just a stylised reference to the polymastic statue of Ephesian Artemis :3cApr 27, 2021
