Mars is the God of War. He rides his steed into cosmic battle armed with the 'spear of Mars' and accompanied by his sons (and also Moons) Phobos ("fear") and Deimos ("panic")

Cool fact I found out while researching for this. The symbols of Mars comes from his sheild and spear. The spear of Mars was a relic that was keep in his temple in Rome and was said said to shake if war or violent was imminent.
