Skirt sewing project

The pocket of the skirt I’m sewing before I got started setting them in~

I really love the checkered fabric but it flashing through the pocket slit was looking off when I did my test pin in. So I added a little facing in the same brown fabric as the skirt to blend the pocket slit in ^u^

And the best thing about making your own pockets is that you can make them as big as you want 0w0
And I wanted mine to be able to fit my scetchbook for museum visits and such when I can’t carry around a bag.

So these are ~~48cm long and 26cm wide at the top pocket opening,~~ 28cm wide at the widest point of the bottom.

To be able to actually put heavy stuff in there I might go with ties or a button strip along the top as an anchor point. Separate from the skirt fabric to prevent sagging and to not have a visible seam there.
