I think time is also an important factor. On deviantart I noticed that over time and with the more I posted, my account and following grew significantly over the years. With insta though it's a totally different story, it's really hard to break through the art market there and the whole algorithm thing is annoying imo but some people swear by it. Just keep posting your art though and with time, hopefully you'll see a growing following! Participating in some challenges may also help.

•It takes a lot of effort and patience. Maybe it's because you jumped around a lot? I've mainly stuck to instagram over the years, so that's where I have the largest following. I've also felt that here on Artfol, it's been easier for me to grow my account. Probably because the app isn't oversaturated (yet) and because there's no algorithm. On Artfol, the two main things I think people should do to grow an account, is post frequently, and be very active/social.
