Blaire - first vs current designWanted to do this so bad, I'll take any excuse to redraw old art (and ramble about my ocs) lol
Ok, so, I keep thinking, Blaire hasn't changed much, over the 8 years, just a few things. But then here's her designs side by side. Yeah.
Well. Technically. A lot of the elements are intact. Long, blue hair; turtleneck sweater with a moon; mostly blue color palette.
She still has blue hair, with bright highlights at the end, it's just become way lighter. Same with a lot of the colors, they were so vibrant lol
She still wears a sweater with a crescent moon design, it's just that she used to have a sweater dress before with some weird stockings.
Tbh, drawing it now, her old design seems kinda iconic with the bold colors. But it feels like a completely different character. My baby has grown so much

So, I don't know if I've ever told the story of how I first made Blaire, to anyone. It was actually quite a simple, perhaps a funny little story. I was just getting into drawing digitally, and knowing me, yes, I was drawing ponies, and most of my ocs were ponies. Then I thought about making a human oc, and I think I was looking at a guide??? I remember writing down the details of her design, and coming up with a name. It literally was just like, Hair: mint blue, Clothes: sweater, striped socks, etc.
And coming up with the name. "I want a unique name. How about, I mix Mint, and Belle(or smth like that), and we get: Mintyrelle!" Yes, she used to have a different name... I changed it because I wanted a more 'normal' sounding name lol. And now it's stuck.
I guess, Mintyrelle could stay as the name of her old design :')
I don't have the actual first drawing of her, but I remember drawing it!!!!! And posting it on Deviantart. AND DELETING IT!!!! Idk why
I would love to see it now lol. At least I have a drawing that's close to the first design.
Reminder, always keep your beginner artworks, even tho they are ass. Save them, so you can look back to where you started. And look back to cringe and see how far you've come.Dec 8, 2024

•ooh i love all the changes! both designs are cute but i can see the newer vision more matches more what you do now! its cool to hear of old oc origin stories and names though hehe i feel like they often start so different!
