Portrait Study

Good morning & happy Wednesday!
Here’s a little portrait study I sketched to practice stylizing a reference
I used to struggle capturing the way someone looks in my style, but now I have so much fun with it!
It’s fun to exaggerate the features to add some extra personality
do you use references while you work?
There’s a detailed tutorial video up on my Patreon about how to stylize characters from reference!
I show how I sketched this drawing and a few others while sharing my best tips & techniques on how to stylize
the link is in my bio if you wanna check it out!

I love the colours of your paintings, their so alive!
Absolutely, when I was younger I was afraid of using references & as a result a lot of my drawings turned out weird, I've since learned the value of using references

Very nice illustration.
I have gotten into the habit of using reference to help with my illustrations. Might not use reference for my monsters (besides for reminder).

•This is gorgeous! And yes I use references while working! They're a lifesaver haha

•I’m trying to use more references for my art and so far it’s really helped me with getting the anatomy right and things like that! It also helps me remember different hair styles and clothing item, different styles I’ve forgot and things like that

•Ohhhh so shiny and beautiful! I tend to use as much reference as I can - though when I’m just trying to have fun I tend to skip references. I remember when I was younger I thought using references was cheating but how wrong I was! Any who, she is beautiful!

•This is so pretty!!
I usually use references for non-human things, hands and poses but rarely ever for portraits. I really need to start doing that though.. thanks for the reminder xD
