Legend of Hilaria
So I was doing a prompt on "fool" and came across this gem. The legend of Hilaria is a Christian retelling of a Coptic tale.Basically, Hilaria is a daughter of a certain king and leaves to travel. After discussing herself as a monk, she gains access to a monastery and lives there as a man. Later on, her younger sister grows ill(cursed by a demon). She is brought to the monastery to be healed and Hilaria stays at her sister's side day and night until she is healed.
When her sister returns home, she tells her father about the strange monk and Hilaria is ordered to come before the king. There she is revealed to be a woman.
This story actually ends with her leaving and becoming a hermit. For God, of course. I swear I was only looking at the history of fool and April Fool's.Jul 5, 2021
