Suggestive content, DNI UNDER 16Y’all how good are animal crossing games? I never played them. Should I get animal crossing new horizons on switch or animal crossing new leaf on the Nintendo DS? I love New Horizon because it’s really relaxing and cute, and I love meeting all the new villagers and decorating my island. Cant contrast it to NewLeaf though bc New Horizons is the only AC game I’ve played

I played nl when I was younger but never played nh and I think there’s more to do in the new one, I couldn’t really get into it and found it really hard to make progress but I prefer games with fighting and quests so that’s probably why I couldn’t get into it

Played New Horizons a lot during lockdown which is the only "real" AC game I've played. It was fun but I'm very much a sit down for hours and play a game kind of person and it's not really that kind of game. Also got a little boring when I got to the point where all I was doing was logging in every 3 days to pick/sell fruit. Just not for me.
I will say though thar Pocket Camp is THE BOMB! absolutely love it and have been playing it religiously for years (though im on a small break right now for summer but I'll be going back to it in the fall). Pocket Camp is definitely the one I'd recommend

i can't say anything about NL since i've never played it but i've got ~1200 hours on NH. it's a good game if you're really into decorating and collecting/catching stuff like bugs and fish. it's pretty chill and not meant for grinding, the game is actually synchronized with real-world time so you get different events, items, and wildlife for the different seasons. they've added a few new features since launch that are pretty fun, like farming/cooking, diving, & some shops. multiplayer is a thing but you can't do much except tour other people's islands and hit your friends with nets.

I have animal crossing NH, I got it when it came out for my birthday. got an entire switch just for that game. I like it but I don't do much in it, I find it hard to progress without using "treasure islands" or cheating / etc. and there's a lot of things I dislike (I can't change my player name or island name, I named myself before coming out as trans and didn't know what typical island names were bc that was my first AC game so my island name is really stupid, and it bothers me that you can't change colors of buildings or placement of resident services, etc.) so knowing that I'll never really get my island how I want makes me not wanna play but I'm also way too far into the game to restart it. I heard new leaf is nice, I also liked pocket camp when I had it on my old tablet, I thought it was really cute. I can't have it on my current devices but I loved it. I never got the AC games on DS though.
I'll probably wait until the next game to really do much, if that happens, since Nintendo kinda abandoned ACNH really quick.

They are great for the casual audience, given how relaxing and cute the whole series is if you’re willing to look past the greediness of the raccoon giving you your house.
I don’t have many hours on either (trust me, the average AC player sinks as many hours collecting as I do grinding in Smash), but I’d think the verdict is that NH is the better choice!
The customization alone (furniture, island, clothing etc.) is a big factor that will have you sink hours into the game. You don’t even have to buy the dlc for that to happen, but I’m saying this as a non-serious AC enjoyer lol.
Only thing off the top of my head that distinguishes NH and NL is the saving feature. NH will auto save for you, so resetting intentionally will be harder on your Switch.
Why would anyone reset? Island features like the villagers you start with or native fruit. Oh and Resetti. NL is the last game he appeared in sadly.
