Ace week.Something made for @jetteees 's challenge for the asexual awareness week πŸ’œπŸ–€πŸ€

This year featuring my canonically ace character, princess Calipso, also the protagonist of my comic Espero. She is struggling with the idea of romance as she can't feel neither romantic or sexual attraction to anybody a situation tht is making her feel bad about herself as in her homeland she is told to need a partner in order to fullfil her role as a princess.

This based somewhat on personal experience. Back when I was a teen in the early 2000s in a country that is not tolerant to minorities you can imagine that asexuality was never mentioned. I suspected something was off during my early years, but I finally confirmed it when I was 25. Before understanding asexuality fully I felt like I was a defective human being, others assumed I just needed to grow up or I was being prude. Others assumed was also the result of my limited intelligence as I struggle with a low IQ. Today I know I never needed to act like somebody I'm not, my asexuality is not the symptom of nothing, this is not a choice, is something that will never change and anybody of any age can be ace. I'm glad as who I am and I wouldn't change being ace ever πŸ’œπŸ–€πŸ€

Thankfully, today there is more information, so younger people won't be as lost and confused as Calipso or me were.

As for Calipso, she still needs to take time to figure out in what part of the spectrum she is and to accept herself.

Happy asexuality awareness week πŸ’œπŸ’œπŸ’œ

As someone going through similar struggles, this hits a bit close to home.

Amazing, both in the beautiful art and what you have written.

This is so beautifully put. This is EXACTLY why visibility and representation is so important. I had no idea I was ace or trans for a really long time because they just never felt like options. It SHOULDNT be so hard to figure out who you are
