“Growing Up Is Optional” (2024)Getting older is no easy challenge. Watching your youth fade away as you introduce yourself into more mature interests and lifestyles can bring back immense nostalgia when you open those memories back up. With the current media today, children have been exposed to so much routine on how to take care of your skin and save your youthful look, which has affected some of their mindsets. This causes young girls as little as the age of 7-8 to want to wear makeup and use so many skincare products that aren't even necessary for them at that age. On the opposing side, social media has brought back the nostalgia of "being a little girl again" to teens. Therefore, I created this digital piece of two sisters, who are different in age, but opposite in stereotypical lifestyle. The older sister (left) is still fond of cute girly things (like hair bows and stuffed animals) while the younger sister (right) wants to look mature while still keeping a youthful glow.
