For Day 8 of VolkTober, the sea-born Cerulean Sapphire makes a splash! The child of a sakana (mermaid) and a human, Cerulean enjoys the best -- and worst -- of both worlds. Due to a quirk in his DNA, he has a unique ability to transform between a mermaid and a full human form at will. This ability inspired him to become one of the most effective lifeguards along the beaches of Lyrenia Island.

Bold and confident, he is sure to leap into action when he knows someone is in trouble, whether it be by land or by sea, and provide useful educational tips along the way. His unique skills also allow him to serve as a liaison between the underwater and surface-dwelling worlds, ensuring that the needs of both are met. It also gives him a unique perspective on crime-fighting, especially when it comes to criminals that directly affect both worlds.

Now this drawing was a CHALLENGE to get through. It literally took me about 8 attempts to get this right (ironic, isn't it? Day 8?); mostly because of trying to get the poses right, as well as drawing Cerulean's mouth correctly... yikes- drawing mouths is simple, but definitely one of the easiest things to mess up imo. I got a stern reminder why I hate drawing in pen
