Mine, and nothing else!

ENFORCED EXTENDED SOLITUDE, FANTASIZING I'VE GROWN.
NOW I WONDER, PROFOUND EXPERIENCE OR HAVE I JUST BEEN ALONE?
ALL THE THOUGHTS AND ALL THE WORRIES PRODUCED NOTHING TO SAY
STILL, YOU'RE LISTENING—WHAT A WASTE OF OUR DAY. THANKS.

While painting I've put some considerable time into thinking about the theme and I feel like I've troubles summing it up in only a few sentences. In its core, I see it as a display of power dynamics, supervised or even forced action and a devotion to a cause one does not freely subscribe to. The male, in his patriarchal gaze, binds another life to his by marking (tattooing) the female figure. While the female, who finds herself in the given situation wears her freedom on her sleeve—symbolized by the woman on her back, a careless version of herself.
The act of tattooing, in this case, should be both the tool of the binding process and the expression of personal freedom. All in one sentence: 'You might try, but you can never erase the freedom from my skin.'
