Another painting that is conceptually situated in the realm of gender roles. It feels quite hard to properly describe the thoughts that came up during the process, because the topic is so intricate and nuanced that I don't want to paint it with too broad of a brush.
I sure hope that now is the time to escape the traditional view of what it means to be of a certain gender, but I'm also not delusional enough to think that I'm an authority concerning that topic.
I try my best to reflect on my own thoughts and in the context of my paintings, show people that express an emotion, independent of what they are traditionally associated with.
I feel like it's tricky to hit a note that actually feels right and I sure don't want to seem like I do this to make a good impression.
