A take I don't love is "it's okay to like bad media if you're self-aware about it"
Because I'm only ever told this take about media I think are actually good and not "so bad it's good"
Because a lot of beloved media people say are bad actually are liked because they succeeded at their intent. Which means that they were actually good.
Venom (2018) is not a good Film
, but it isn't even trying to be Film. It's trying to be a silly fun superhero movie, and it succeeded hugely at that. People gotta stop judging fish by their ability to climb trees. Sometimes a media's ambitions aren't that lofty and they should be respected for that, not "enjoyed only ironically."Jun 28, 2024
