The Children of Nature
These!I've been wanting to show them off for a while. If you still remember Mansion In The Woods, you may remember that there are these vaguely fae-inspired creatures I mentioned. And here they are! They're called Children of Nature, or Naturlings, or Natus (Natu - singular), and have other names based on where they live, same as humans have ethnicities. They are very different, some more humanoid (like these), some - less. However they are Generally bipedal and at least vaguely human-like.
Naturlings are some of my favourite creatures to write so far, because they don't have many social constructs humans have. They could've made them up, however, Naturlings don't bother with things that humans might consider very important for their social structure. For example, they don't have money. Or the concept of nuclear family. But most fun I'm currently having with the fact that they don't have a concept of "sex" as a biosocial thing, and even their view on gender is much more different than humans'. First of all, not all naturlings have genitals and reproductive systems to begin with.
The very first generation of natus was born from Nature itself. Some - in the water, some - from the rocks, some - from flowerbuds and trees. The very first generation looks much more plantlike, animalistic and resembles what it was born of, rather than having skin and hair. The second was born the same way, however they had some organs that the first one didn't, and quickly learned what they're for. The third generation was born mostly from Nature, but a small part was born from its parents. And then more and more of them had more humanlike looks and their bodies were different, having different organs inside and outside, combined in ways that made life much more fun and exciting, as there were so many different types of them. And even some of the latest generation Natus are born without reproductive systems, so it's simply a part of their nature.
Naturlings, when they woke up for the first time, only knew one singular pronoun. It. They were all "it", like the rest of Nature. The trees, the rivers, the hurricanes and the flowers, and the animals. But the more there were of them, the more they realised that there are some who don't feel like the others. And since Naturlings have a sort of "six sense" that allows them feel others' nature, they were all able to agree that yes, some of them feel different from the outside too. And calling them the same word as others would be unfair. And so they took a second pronoun they knew, "they" and made it singular. And it worked. But then more of different ones came, so they simply made up new words, like they would for all things they have never seen before. New words, new pronouns, as many as everyone needs. Naturlings are good at making up necessary words.
These are the four examples, from left to right, a natu with no reproductive system and genitals at all, a natu with, well, a dick, a natu with a dick and two pairs of boobs (and three pairs of ears), and a natu with no reproductive system but a slightly different body tipe. And maybe a pussy? I don't know anymore. And if anyone, for some reason, wonders about how they pee, don't worry. They manage. I've been on the internet long enough to know that it's a legitimate question.
They are very fun to write. I will show you more of these guys and the main characters too! I didn't forget Melissa, you know. I'm just a bit concentrated on Potalia rnOct 25, 2021
