June in the hallways

As she walked down the hallway to her bedroom she felt someone’s breath on her neck, damp and stale as if it was rotting, she feels shivers down her spine, her legs felt as if she wasn’t in control of them anymore, she swiftly turns around!

Seeing only her shadow behind her, or so it seemed as she looked closer she saw it form into a different figure, it was not her and it definitely wasn’t human, she holds her breath trying her best to ignore what’s she had just seen.

“You can’t keep ignoring me…”
A voice echoed in the distance, June froze, she turns around looking at the shadow now gone from her field of vision,
The voice echoed again “Don’t you think it’s rude to ignore your… special guest ?”

June thought to herself “why can’t you leave me be ?” But she didn’t intend on uttering a word to this creature, the creature responded to Junes question, “I would, if you didn’t so nicely free me from my prison…”

June had no intention to speak to this creature instead opting to rush to her bedroom, but as soon as she opened the door the floor beneath her collapsed, she felt restrained in what felt like chains suddenly, the voice spoke, this time yelling from afar “ You’re debt isn’t fully paid, you may have set me free, but your soul is mine.”

June was falling, to what seemed like her death, or an eternity in this deep pit feeling as if with every breath she took the chains tightened, suddenly she felt as if the force was about to hit her head…

Until she had awoken, she was in a cold sweat at the edge of her bed wrapped around in her blanket. Was it just a dream? She wondered but she was too tired to think, she got back into position and closed her eyes.

Yet the lingering feeling of being watched intensified…Jan 26, 2023
