El cueroWanted to post this drawing last night, but I fell asleep so early while doing so (I guess I was very tired indeed) 
This is based on the Chilean myth "El cuero" or at times called "Manta" (which can be roughly translated "the leather" or "the blanket")
The story tells that a misused cow leather thrown at the river created this strange flat creature that swims in the cloudy waters of Chilean rivers, being specific in the south of Chile, where these are more common. Surrounded with tiny sharp teeth and with two long appendages with its eyes, El cuero is hunting unsuspecting animals or people who get too close to the river and covers them with its body to digest them whole.
I think this legend was made up so people would be careful near rivers, since those in the south of my country are very dangerous, though there are people who claim to have seen it.Nov 1, 2023
