Folks whose native languages are something other than english (and russian, i know that one already lol), what is an equivalent of 'it' in your native language? Like, in he/she/it, what's the "it"? Or what's the neutral option, if you have one. Or maybe your language doesn't have gendered pronouns?
Tell me pls, i want to know!
Edit: okay just letting you know, I'm not planning to use "it" as a gender neutral pronoun in any language, I'm just asking bc i use "ono" in my native language and i want to know what equivalents it has! It's not used for humans in russian but i use it for myself anyway. For other people - only if they want to. I know it's not the same as english they/them okayFeb 10, 2022

If you translate "it" in French it would be "ça"
But now people use "iel" as a neutral pronoun, which is the contraction of "il" (he) and "elle" (she)

"Eso" for Spanish. But it would be considered very disrespectful to call someone "eso". I wouldn't even call that to an animal, only objects, tbh haha for a neutral They, we created the "Elle"

In czech we have “to” but similarly to german it refers to non human and lifeless things.

•In German, 'it' means 'es' but I would't recommend it as gender neutral pronoun, because 'es' refers mostly to lifeless objects (there are some exceptions but in those cases, as we would say in german, 'ist das halt einfach so' because there are no really rules for why or how.)
