Little emo boy

My oc Kai as tween or pre-teen whatever ypu wanna call it

I just wanted to draw him in one of the outfits i gave him in that drawing from a while ago of him and Ezra at different ages, so just a 12 yr old Kai on his way home from school (he was supposed to look grumpy but his expression changed when I did the lineart..)

Started the rough sketch in August, been working on it over several days but I also didn’t draw for weeks, and when finally getting back to finish the sketch some days ago I ran into one of those "lost my art skills" art blocks (does it categorise as art block?) the anatomy was just not working out, and I still think it looks a bit off… i couldn’t find any good references either, specifically for the hunching forward, shoulders up pose I wanted.
I erased and redrew his face/head especially so many times and had to refrain from scribbling all over it in a rage

so made some angry doodles if you can call it that, on the page next to it instead (wich has markers bleeding through already, i didnt ruin a new page) well i just drew angry faces like >:( and wrote very aggresively how i can’t draw… so ended up taking a break and then starting the style challenge I posted two days ago instead before getting back to this drawing again some days later. I always end up ranting in my posts especially when I’ve struggled with a piece

i just like to talk about the process, and get it like out of my head too?

Anywayyy had fun with this once i got to lineart and colouring, just the sketch was a struggle wich is usually the case especially after not drawing for a while, I have to start doing more warm-ups I guess bc I tend to just jump straight into a sketch, sometimes I do thumbnails but not nearly enough ig
I liked how the sketch came out in the end and that almost made me not wanting to do lineart and stuff in fear of ruining it after all that work for the sketch part

and that was sort of true when it comes to his expression wich did end up different :’) but I do like how this looks actually!
