Hi, I'm just an average guy wanting to share a journey of drawing both traditionally and digitally. Occasionally woodwork-ally.

"My Human" - Man and Cat Silhouette DrawingA hand-drawn silhouette of a man (yes, he's wearing glasses), with a cat silhouette draped over his far shoulder. The background is sort-of pinky-red with hints of unintended orange. But it works.
If you're interested in the process:
1. The Traditional Art Stage:
From an outline drawn from seeing my own cat over my shoulder, I first worked the background for a couple of layers using coloured pencils. Only then did I add the greys and blacks.
Many silhouettes have slight fuzzy outlines, but I made mine more pronounced, partly for style and partly to make it clear where the man and cat began and ended.
2. Fighting the Paper
I had to apply multiple layers of colour due to the texture of the paper. I wore it out a little, but I should have used smooth or shiny paper for this piece. Lesson learned.
3. GIMP Edit
Because the photo of the actual drawing came out rubbish - the light reflected on the white of the sketchbook, which made it look like I hadn't spent 4+ hours on it, which I had.
So, I ran it through a denoise filter in GIMP and then compared my sketchbook to the screen and adjusted curves a little to ensure it reflected reality.
It was nice to finish a personal project in two days around other life activities. I hope you like this quick drawing.Jan 25, 2026
