Light Will Only Get You So FarA scene from my serial fiction writing. A race of giant, venomous spiders, supposedly mythical, attack a human and halfling in the woods.
The human is a diplomat, but carries a crystal lamp light that is usually covered. The leader of the spiders is the only one of its kind not frightened away by the light, but struggles to its legs, eventually rearing up to attack the diplomat, who has no fighting experience.
But the lead spider turns out to be correct when he says "Light will only get you so far."
