Hobbit OC/redesignMan it’s been awhile since i’ve posted on artfol! Sorry about that…i’ve been too busy.

Anyways, I redesigned my oc/persona Kat! I’ve really been experimenting with my style and such recently sadly this is my most recent full art piece (it’s from like November 😭)

Artblock hasn’t hit yet but I have no ideas or time to draw…So in the meantime i’ve just been practicing anatomy and working on developing and designing my comic i hope to make one day!

Overall I was hoping for some criticism on this piece. Again it’s a little old and I know more anatomy now but I want more advice on the coloring/painting and lighting! Please critique as much as you can!

Okay first of all she looks lovely! I love her design so much, she looks like she belongs in such a peaceful world, you just wanna sit down and enjoy a picnic with her. 😌💜

I'm still learning myself, but one thing that stood out to me is that you don't really seem to go too light or too dark. I really get that, that's a thing many artists struggle with, and dark colors on your canvas can seem scary at first, and soft, pastel colors can work for many styles! But I think that with what you're trying to go for, it would be really awesome to experiment more with contrast! You would be surprised how dark and sharp shadows can get, especially in brightly lit scenarios, like out on a field on a sunny day. ^-^ I also noticed your shadows are very very soft, I think it would be a good idea to get a mix of sharp shadows in there as well. Maybe try studying grayscale, that's very good for learning how values work! 💜 Values can really help to give depth to a picture!
Studying compositions is also great! I can't really say much on that since that's something I'm still learning myself, but it's amazing how much the placement of your subject matters in a picture!

That's all from me. You're doing absolutely amazing, keep up the great work 😌🌌💜
