VolkTober 2023 | Day 30: Cirrinus
For Day 30 of VolkTober, Cirrinus crews up from the inky depths!Beyond the beach-laden coastline of Lyrenia Island lies a beautiful yet deadly landform found in many other parts of the world, such as Belize and the Bahamas. This landform, known to locals as "The Drop," is an example of the phenomenon known as a blue hole, a deep sinkhole in the ocean. This chasm thousands of miles under the waves to the point where little light or oxygen reaches the bottom. Yet there are many creatures that survive just fine down there, from anglerfish and vampire squids to even sperm whales and giant squids! Among these creatures is a man known only as Cirrinus.
"You merely adopted the dark. I was born in it." Raised in the midnight zone of the ocean, down towards the bottom of The Drop, Cirrinus has known very little in the terms of companions. Social skills? Who needs them? Well, he does have a few "friends" of his own. You see, Cirrinus has a special power that allows him to thrive in the depths of The Drop. He has control over this pseudo-sentient ink-like substance that he can not only use to grab objects, but can also create an army of shadowy ink creatures to do his bidding.
Now, considering he's so far down, you probably wouldn't expect him to be much of a threat. Well, yeah, maybe not to you. But what about an unsuspecting team of scientists going on an expedition to explore and study the unknown features of The Drop? And do not underestimate how dark the ocean can get at night. Especially if you're a curious mermaid who's wandered too far from home...
