Been struggling with this redraw of my rough sketch I posted a while ago..
Snufkin still looks weird to me but I’m tired of redrawing him so I’ll leave it like this and say the sketch is done, even if I’m not satisfied with it.
They were originally supposed to stand closer together but Snufkin ended up looking too short and weird and I didn’t feel like moving his head,, I did redraw his face to the point I messed it up and couldn’t make it look like how it first looked that honestly was a lot better and I’m mad at myself for redrawing it in teh first place :’(( I redrew it multiple times trying to go back to how it looked before.. but like moving his whole head higher up was kinda hard to do bc I initially liked his head idk, so now he’s stood a bit more in the foreground instead and I did redraw Moomin as well, to be a bit bigger/taller but he’s still more in the background compared to Snufkin. But I think it’s ok they’re not stood directly next to eachother but Snufkin still looks off and I don’t know how to fix it and also have no motivation to keep erasing and redrawing… sorry for the venting but I just can’t seem to draw anything I like lately, both this and reference sheets for my ocs have been a real struggle whenever I try to continue drawing them it just ends up worse and worse

So I might try and take a break from these wips but not from art itself because I’ve already had a period of not drawing much due to summer vacation mostly, and I think that’s why my art is suffering now. I want to draw so it’s not like I lack inspiration, but I don’t like anything I draw lately and feel even more unmotivated to work on my tower of WIPs as I keep getting new ideas and such, and I just hate everything I try to continue as I’m drawing it and it doesn’t look how I want

Sorry if you read all this and thank you i guess for putting up with my negative post.. I’ll try and post something more positive soon

Aww first of all I think it looks wonderful :)

I’ve also had a time where I’ve been at odds with my art. And I’ve kind of carried this reasoning? with me: that there might come a time in your life when doing what you love will suck (maybe a lot), but then change to be a little, and back and forth. And that’s okay; knowing that our love for the craft sometimes leads us down dark tunnels, that in order to procure that joy, we have to accept that we won’t be happy for all of it.

We are not the same person as we were yesterday. Our abilities might’ve shifted, our thoughts changed, but all that potential still resides within us, because it is a part of us. Everything we make is different, but it is all important.

As we get older we are exposed to more experiences, leading to comparison (self, idealized self, whatever) and doubt (about our ability, ourselves, etc). See your creation as a part of a greater whole, the flower that heralds the apple, but is still this independent entity and something unique.

This has gotten quite long (woops) but what I’m trying to say is that in order to love what we do, a feeling so real, we have to go through it all, meaning that sometimes have to feel lost, hurt and frustrated.

Hope this can helps you and anyone who reads this a bit ♡
