American Tree Sparrow/Ruddy Turnstone
I’m slowly just working through my new lifers for the year in my sketchbook and kinda thinking about doing a complete artistic record of my year list and/or my green list (birds seen within a human-powered radius of my home - bike, walk, kayak I guess if I really wanted to go get looked at judgingly by the gulls on the harbor wall) - the sparrow hits both, the turnstone I drove to see even though he was only a few miles away because winter biking is so unsafe here that I don’t get winter tires :(Ink and wash, Microns and watercolors (mostly ultramarine, Payne’s gray, raw umber, and burnt sienna, pulled in some quin orange on the sparrow and some transparent pyrrol orange/rose red deep (particularly pink PV19) for the turnstone legs.Jan 16, 2022
