Today I wanted to talk about some things people do or say in conventions that you should not do or say!!
Conventions are usually such a nice place, you meet lots of nice people and even make some friends. But there's always someone who finds the time to be rude.
- If you don't like the art or products of a stand, don't say it in front of the artists. We can hear you and it hurts. Keep your opinion to yourself please, or at least wait to walk away.
- Don't comment or tell us our products are too expensive. Do you, perhaps, work for free??
- Don't ask us for a discount. Most of us are already underpricing our stuff.
- To the people who loudly says "Don't buy that, I can make it at home": Do it? Who's stopping you?
- Don't stop in front of anyone's stand to chat with your friends/take photos, you're blocking the way for the people who's trying to see the stuff. It's rude. Usually there's plenty of space for that, you don't have to block anyone's table.
- Ask the artists before touching anything, some don't like it. I personally don't care as my stuff doesn't break, but I've seen very avoidable accidents before.
- If you pick up anything leave it as it was (?) Don't create a chaos out of the stand. I had to get up so many times to organize everything because some people pass by like hurricanes.
- Don't come asking if we give anything for free, not even pretending to look at the products we sell. TF.
- Very basic one, but DON'T STEAL (?) Please! I should not have to say this, but unfortunately there's always someone who tries to. I haven't experienced this one myself but lots of my friends have.
- Be aware of your surroundings! Some kids made my whole stand fall to the ground two years ago. TWICE!! In less that one hour!
This is just some of the stuff we've had to hear or see during our times at cons, I'm sure I'm missing out a lot. I've encountered really rude people, but don't you think this is the norm. There's lots of sweet people too! Who get interested in your art, characters and stories

I was in a manga and anime com and there was no time when people didn't steal pins... PINS! WTF They were the cheapest thing in the com... âŹ1 and people stole them, or "unintentionally" knocked the shelf to the ground and while they "helped to pick up them', they kept a few in their pockets...

Yo no tengo stands, pero mis amigas si y les pasa todo esto, en especial los robos. Yo por eso opto por no ir a los eventos ni mirar los puestos si no puedo pagar, aunque el artista se sienta ignorado, es preferible a que vaya, mire su trabajo y y aĂșn asĂ no lleve nada.

âąWhile I've never been to a con like that before, a lot of the things you pointed out ring very close to home ever since I worked in retail. It's a curious phenomenon. Whenever people are going out to buy stuff it seems like they leave their manners at home.

âąI once was at an anime con stand where very cheap material-made plushies were being sold (the ones produced in China, NOT handmade ones, literally just very plastic-ish puppet dolls that are easy to find in Chinese anime merch websites) and I went to tell my cousin "damn that's expensive af" (it was the same price I saw online, like around 25 bucks for a 5 cm tall printed on plasticish cloth chibi deformed plush)
I liked the character so I purchased it anyway since again it's impossible to find them cheaper atm. Quality GOD awful. But again why not since it's the only merch of the character I found out there xD
Anyway after saying "damn it's expensive af" the seller (who isn't even an artist nor was he selling it as anything lower or higher the amount online) GOT OFFENDED AS IF I WAS INSULTING HIS PRICE... LIKE DUDE. I am complaining about the fact a cheap material and cheap printing is being used on a chain-line production of toxic plastic plush toys and he gets mad??? doubt he owns the Chinese plush making company xD
Probably he didn't understand I was talking about general quality of any wonky merch in general especially in the plush quality and inks and materials. I am studying this type of stuff myself and gosh that was expensive for what it was especially A CHAIN PRODUCED PRODUCT.
X'D cause damn I've seen handmade ones, cost 60 but WORTH IT. I'm all for spending hundreds on artist made plushes.

Idk I think there's a lot of misunderstandings I would have wished he grasped. Even mocking what I was saying as if he got personally attacked xD like man... please I am buying it even if I complain about the quality of A COMPANY... not u specifically damn
