Actually first time i do mermay
Been a bit hard to know what to draw lately but then it hit me it’s still May so why not draw a mermaid?

I worked on this (from sketching thumbnails to finshing this) over three or four days tho so literally only got to do this at the very end of the month lol

Struggled a bit with the sketch mainly the (our) right arm but think i like how the overall pose ended up but anatomy still bugs me a little, some things here and there looks weird. But hope you can tell that it’s a fin on his back/butt and it’s not the other side of his tail (bc the actual other fin on his tail is hidden behind the back fin)
Also i can never get used to these watercolour pencils or how to use them — also my sketchbook being so thick and this page being on the left side when there’s like ten pages left of this whole sketchbook makes it SO HARD to use any clips to hold the page down, they barely hang on and scratches the paper…. so very hard to get the paper to not get wobbly when adding water, I probably should have skipped a page when i knew i wanted to use watercolours, oh well

I do like how this ended up but got a bit lazy, also kinda just winged the fins.. spent so much time just figuring out the design and stuff before i started this sketch but didn’t bother too much abt the actual detailsMay 29, 2025
