The Anti-Heroes
I’ve been trying to read more lately and I’ve found myself leaning more towards children’s/pre-teens books. I got inspired by the illustrations and cover art of some of the stories I’ve been looking at, and I really wanted to experiment with a children’s illustrative style! I want to illustrate my own stories at some point, and I’ve always found myself wanting to lean toward a slightly more child-friendly style (even though I’d say my stories are all more aimed for young adults)Just for something “simple”, I started with Cosmo and Moxie— my favorite children and the protagonists/anti-heroes in their respective stories :’0
For some reason Cosmo was a lot harder to work with than Moxie. I think part of it was because of her dark, muted color palette. Even trying to do a more exaggerated, simplified style was a struggle when it came to Cosmo.
This is definitely something I’ll need to practice, but it was fun experimenting and trying something new!Sep 11, 2021
