QOTD: what is the FUNNIEST backhanded compliment you've ever gotten/heard?

Back in high school another weeb told me, "your art is great, for a Bleach fan"

Like what 💀
It was probably a jab at my OCs looking like Bleach characters/being unoriginal but still finding my actual skill impressive but it came across like the guy hated Bleach yet somehow thought my style was good despite it being highly Bleach influenced. I was just confused for a solid minute afterwards.

Sooo I did horse riding for a long time, and I was a heavy child, around 86kg for 161cm. I remember a lesson where a kid who was a bit taller but far thinner that me and she was riding very heavy (like falling back in the saddle hard to a point it could hurt the horse if she was heavier). and the teacher said with an exasperated voice "Come on, you are heavier in your saddle than bleizez and she is 5 times you weight !!" So... in the same sentense he told I was fat, told I rode light, and put down that girl... I never knew what to think of that, that is such a weird thing to say
“You’re now the second best artist in the class!”

She previously considered me first 😂
A friend tried to compliment telling me how cute I was, but then she decided to ask a few of our dude friends: “Would you consider her as your girlfriend?”. Suddenly both reply “Yeah… if she wasn’t so introverted” 💀💀💀

Also in primary school a classmate used to compliment my art and my teacher used to put some of them around the class as decor, I specially remember one of them contained Strawberry Shortcake (the same from the show, I was super proud).

One day I found that same drawing completely destroyed, full of pushpin holes leaving the character unrecognizable. I cried and the teacher tried to make the culprit apologize, but they never confessed.

Years later that same classmate told me it was him and that he did it because of with the other boys. I didn’t felt so betrayed in my life (artistically speaking), haven’t talk to him since then. 💀
My family keeps saying stuff like "your art is good but I don’t like what you draw" or "it’s good but I don’t like the character" only bc it looks like anime to them? Or they don’t like the character designs idk it’s mostly my sister that just don’t like anything animated.. and then there are ppl that expects every artist to draw realism and I’ve gotten a few "you’re good at art but you should draw scenery or something real" like just let me draw what I want??
"It's... creative..."

In response to my admittedly wild reinterpretation of this art exercise: draw something as many times as you can in as many different ways as you can. For example: anything round, draw anything round in your environment in all kinds of styles, materials, etc.

Me: This is my piano, this is how he looks in human form, I made over a hundred portraits in as many ways, materials and styles as I was able to. Then I made a stand in the vague form of a piano and glued the pieces to it for the show part.

I recommend the exercise, it looses the strains if you box yourself in a specific way, style, material. If you do it and share it, let me know, I can comment it's creative but without the negative tone 😂😂
«You are so mature for your age»

Not something you should compliment a 10 year old on. They shouldn’t have adult concerns yet.
Someone said you are uncomfortable good at art and later kicked me out of a online drawing session cause he was mad about that 🥲 still haven't processed that
I have been told that I smell like crayons. I have also been told that my art was ugly and equated to a surrealist painter who intentionally made unappealing art.

I eat soup.
When I was a kid some old lady told me “you’re so tall despite being nationality and having a short mom” and I was like what!? 💀💀💀
