i saw this on twitter but what do u all think the most recent art style trends are based off of/largely inspired by?

Well for the most part it stayed pretty consistent between 4 distinct styles (in current animation):
Disney
Anime (broadly)
Western comics (broadly)
Western anime influence
I can't say much about social media and its niches cause I'm rarely ever active.

I think that anime are more popular, and anime styles are more widespread outside Japan than before. Also, since "Spiderman into the Spiderverse", many animated films abandoned the previous realism tendence of CGI and mixed it with 2D like Spiderman.

I think that most artstyles now are based on general trends rather than a specific show
Like for ex from weirdcore, analog horror, cottagecore, y2k etc.

•Really depends, Im guessing Anime and Disney are huge influences overall
Maybe even League of legends to some extent, and ofc Instagram and Pinterest aesthetics
Other than that I think it’s mainly realism, arcane was a huge influence for some many people after it came out but I think that trend has died down
