I ended up getting an MP4 and I've been trying it for the past month! As some of you were in the same situation as me I wanted to leave a small review of it, for anyone interested.
It's a Energy Sistem Handy MP4 that I got discounted. It's quite small and very very light, so it's perfect to take it anywhere. The sound quality is really nice for my untrained ears, tho I do have some very good headphones.
I've been using it for more than a month, pretty frequently and I've only needed to charge it three times, so the battery is awesome. It survived a 5h bus trip and it was still full.
Downloading the music is the most boring part, but really easy to get it in. I get the songs I want in MP3 format and copy the files into the device (plugging it into the computer). I had to rename them by hand to properly organise them inside the MP4 as they go by alphabetical order.
I know that for some people it can be tedious to download each song individually. My best friend almost died when I told her, but it wasn't a big deal for me. I haven't added 300 songs at once either, just the ones I listen to the most right now, and I'll be adding more little by little.
Rn I have like +50 songs including the OST of Lord of the Rings (+2h) and it still has capacity for many more songs. It's 16gb but in case of necessity you can get an SD card in!
For the music listening part, you have the basic features in it. Advance and go back in the song list, advance the song you're listening to an specific minute, get back to the song that's being played, make lists with certain songs, make a song loop, etc.
There's also a radio feature, audio recording, photo album, video album, clock and Bluetooth!
So far I'm very happy with it and I'm using it a lot. I never was a fan of apps like Spotify and before I was using a normal YouTube account with my phone unblocked (or good ol' CDs for the car radio), so going back to an MP3/4 hasn't been hard at all!
For the ones that were looking for an alternative too I hope this helps in the decision or that you find something that works for you!May 13, 2024

Might need an MP3 as My phone can't handle the huge amount of music anymore but I'm hesitant. This info helps tho!
