This truly garish two-headed self portrait is a continuation of my work exploring mental health. Part of my Melodramanticism series, “Ambivalence” uses exaggerated facial expressions and high chroma to illustrate the contradicting personalities that live inside of me (and inside many of us, for that matter). Mania and depression, euphoria and rage, love and hate—if these conflicting yet coexisting states of mind had a physical form, I think it would look a little something like this. This painting is also UV reactive!
