Our Lady of Docosanol

Inspired by renaissance portraits of saints and the virgin Mary, this piece is an ode to the miraculous medicinal properties of docosanol and its treatment of cold sores. The “cold sore” is a plastic gemstone set front and center on the lip of our heroine. With this cheeky painting I seek to de-stigmatize and beautify this very common ailment. This mixed media painting includes marker, posca paint pen, highlighter and acrylic on stretched canvas—arch shaped, as a nod to the renaissance theme.
