Lol ok so my catboy OC began as an mha OC that I shipped with Bakugo (from mha 
) but later I had to do a project for creative writing and so I decided to give him his own world and backstory- heโs pretty different from how he started out and Iโm glad hes changed!
For my other OCs, it was mostly based on an aesthetic or concept (like green hair or the academia aesthetic)

โขHonestly I tend to make OC's that are really stereotypical or cliche and then without meaning to I add more depth and try to think them through in a realistic way. It's an impulse that I really enjoy, someone who looks easy to judge on the surface but is full of surprises!

โขI love that! I often try to create characters that subversive characters too!

โขohh well, my persona actually started out as my acnh character but i just added in a lot of my interests and built upon that.
i just base his character off of me a bit but in general i create my oc's with animals in mind because they really enlighten me, some of the animals characteristics also influence their behaviour. i mainly created them to cope with some stuff as well and live out some ideas and fantasies :,D

โขTo heal through trauma in a lot of ways, actually. A lot of my characters have family issues OR have very good relationships with their parents and siblings. I like to focus on the healthy ones when I'm feeling down to cheer myself up with some wholesomeness! And vent when putting my characters through difficult times.
I really feel like a lot of artists do this ngl. Of course I make em for fantasy, and epicness and all that but let's be real:
We all sometimes create the things that we don't have, and in that way, make ourselves feel a bit better
....

I feel like I don't go into a whole alot of thought when it comes to the design process, but more so what their story is. Though sometimes they don't have a story, I just wanted to make that idea.

โขI put a facet of myself or a friend into them to start with, and then I build them up to be a totally different person!

โขI want my OCs to be flawed, and not necessarily the best people. Theyโre likeable as far as I know, but theyโre imperfect.

โขFor me they fit some sort of story role, and then stem from a very clear aesthetic! Then I just canโt stop thinking about them, or Iโll hear a song that makes me alter their story to fit the lyrics

โขSome OCโa I create specifically as emotional support. While others I create for stories I have running through my noggin on a daily basis. Although, I create stories and worlds for all of my OCโs to live in, because each character has something special I love about them!

โขI wanted to have my universe as a blend of future/past/present, magic technology, fairy tales. I create lots of OCs that fit in at least one of those categories.
