sketches: a bit of Alef..I dunno why but I got a bit of free time (yay!) and drew Alef, with his long hair tied back during his rebel years.
I imagine his character to have intense eyes because he is always thinking, always analyzing (even over analyzing). Chances are he wouldn't even see you if you walked in front of him because he is deep in thought.
His left palm has a 'dark spot'/scar (I dunno how to draw scars okay T.T) as a result of accidentally touching his small-scale Shard (an infinite power source) prototype, completely forgetting that it can absorb Light and exploded in his hand as it overloaded.
As the Child of Light, he has powers over Light (it's not really light but more like the souls/essence of all who had lived, is living, and will live). His capabilities are only limited by what he knows so far, though along the way, he realizes that he can actually do a lot of marvelous and dangerous things. (P.S. i don't know how to properly translate my idea of Light into drawing so that shape will have to do
)
And lastly, his braid. His best friend, Mara, braided* it. Being blind, Mara, at Alef's request, put in beads that appeal to her touch. The orange one was rough to touch, the blue one, an interesting shape. The pink one was smooth and cold to touch while the yellow one also had an interesting shape.
*I imagine braiding (in their culture) is a way to identify themselves from other tribes (like how Aidan's tribe has arrow tattoos on their faces). It is a way to build or strengthen bonds as the braid is usually done by another person, usually family or a friend and braided in a manner where beads are used.
I honestly kinda wanna draw Alef braiding Mara's hair.

this is fascinating! I think you translated light very well! and what a fascinating story! I really enjoyed reading more about Alef and his relationship with Mara ^^ Also love how you worked his braids ^^

Had a sky dream. Didn't remember most of it. There was very wild, very unskylike characters at the begining. But I remember Prince Alef was in it! And it was this exact prince Alef! Its like the image just appeared there. It was that that caused myself to know this version of him is memorable! I saw his yellow eyes!
