What’s your opinion when it comes to drawing celebrities? Please share your thoughts
I think when it comes to realism this topic is very hit and miss... I personally like drawing celebrities here and there if they inspire me.
I think it’s very good to start off by drawing famous people as it allows you to compare and identify your weaknesses and what you can improve on also helps you understand what you were good at... as they’re a celebrity their face is well known allowing this process to be easier.May 9, 2021

I don’t do realism but I mainly draw celebrities (so fanart). I do it because it’s fun and because I want to draw portraits. Idk I don’t really think about it. If I like something I draw it

•Celebrities are good to practice realism but if you arent interested in realism it helps to practice to stylize them while keeping them recognizable. I kinda preffer illustrations that are more inspired by their work than just their face tbh

•I personally don't care for it that much. I love realism, and admire the amount of skill and work it takes, but when people just do celebrities it's just not interesting to me. Obviously if said celebrity inspires them and motivates them, then yeah go for it, but ultimately I prefer to see variety. I really like it when artists draw regular/random people with lots of blemishes in the skin and wrinkles, I just love seeing all the extra details that you may not see with a lot of celebrities. If that makes sense.

•I always draw my favorite celebrities because hey, I love what they do so why not? I sometimes draw them to practice realism, sometimes I draw them in my own style, I like drawing them usually because they inspire me a whole lot so it’s like hey, why not? And a lot of celebrities actually are really enjoying of art and Fanart, like at least the ones I know, I’ve had celebrities I look up to repost drawings I’ve made of them on Instagram before- so I don’t really think there’s anything wrong with it

•To me it's rather pointless unless you're a big fan and do it genuinely ¯\(⊙ʖ⊙)_/¯ but it can be a good practice to train the way your stylization goes along with recognition

•I like to use them for speedpaint portrait practice. Some photoshoots are also very neat to be stylized. Honestly in the end it's just using them as a drawing reference too :D
