It's kind of weird how people will feminize any male character with any sort of nurturing trait or other traits traditionally viewed as feminine. Like don't me wrong, I've laughed at memes like that too but idk I feel like it's kind of turned from the occasional joke to, like, just reinforcing outdated stereotypes about gender.
And like obviously there's nothing wrong with being feminine as a man but like, if you have a male character who presents as very traditionally masculine in every way and then he is constantly feminized by the fandom because he's like, idk, in touch with his emotions or something like that. I don't know, feels kind of icky. I don't think you're doing what you think you're doing.
This isn't about any specific character, just a pattern I've noticed. It even goes beyond just fictional characters, people do this with celebrities, I've seen people do it to cats, like it's a whole thing.
I don't know, maybe I'm being too sensitive. I think as a trans guy I might be more uncomfortable with the idea of being depicted as overly feminine against my will or in opposition to the way I present myself than others.Nov 18, 2025

Oh how i wish cis men could also give birth then we could throw all of this 'expected behavior to this gender' nonsense out of the window.

this totally makes sense. Per the example, feminizing a man for being in touch with his emotions is just furthering the idea that a man isn't allowed to be that way, but women "should be." Like you said, being fem isn't a bad thing, but for people who identify strongly with their male identity, it can be dysphoric and strip that identity away from them.
