I don't know how much I've established about xim honestly T^T
Have I talked about xir power?? I can ramble about xir power perhaps-

Edelweiss is able to tell where exactly people are looking -- xe needs to have contact (physical, eye) of said person's body in some form to be able to understand what they're focusing on, and it helps when they're looking really intently so that their line of sight becomes easier to follow for xim. Additionally, xe can feel when people are looking at xim, regardless if xe has contact with the perceiver or not.
As a person, I feel like Edelweiss is able to sympathise more easily than the average creature? Or like, xe is more attuned to finding viewpoints outside of xir own -- that's part of what makes xim feel approachable for others :D
It helps that xe can literally feel how others see, too. Edel picked up on the fact that Alexis would need glasses early on because his vision/line of sight is so much fuzzier than everyone else around them. You know those dogs that can tell when you've got a heart disease or something? That's Edel but like with eye vision hahaha
As the lead singer in xir and Luci's garage band, xir power does make things overwhelming at times. It's fascinating because Edelweiss as a person is pretty confident -- like, xe would be able to rationalise and power xir way out of stage fright -- but because of the physical sensation of eyes on the stage, and sometimes especially focused on xim, xe does have to stop the performance for a bit. It's like, a couple of hands on your body is alright, but having a hundred or hundreds gets Too Much real quick no matter how alright you are with physical contact. I imagine a way Edel tries to mitigate this is by drawing attention and applause to the other members of their band, but that doesn't take away all of the eyes still.
Back when Edel was still part of a folk hero group -- with Lucien, and The Wolf, and a friend long lost -- xe had to compensate xir powers with xir physical ability and xir intelligence. Everyone else had flashy powers that aided them physically in some form, while Edel only had an extended insight against their foes. It haunts xim, some nights, thinking about how xe wasn't able to compensate for enough. Had xe been able to move as fast as Lucien, or had the sheer strength that The Wolf had, then maybe Lucien wouldn't have been hurt as badly as she was. And maybe an old friend would still be alive.Dec 20, 2025
