Foreman Quickarms
Centuries ago, when my buddies and I were playing D&D, I started off for the first time by making my first character. My buddy Mike had a monk character named Tyson Quickarms. Monks in the game were like Shaolin monks, so to speak. They were disciplined warriors trained in the arts of unarmed combat. Mike Tyson was in his prime at this time (I told you it was a while back), so Mike named his monk after the most famous fighter of our time. My first character was to be an understudy of his, so I named him Foreman Quickarms, after my all-time favorite, the legendary George Foreman.Sadly, we lost Big George last week. His career was remarkable, from winning Olympic gold in 1968, to having essentially two boxing careers, as he was retired from 1977 to 1987, only to come back and have a second boxing career longer than the first. He was a two-time heavyweight champion, and is the oldest man to ever hold the title. But he was also a man of faith, a Christian pastor who always boldly gave glory and honor to Jesus Christ, and everyone I've ever heard who knew him (including his rival and friend Muhammad Ali's daughter Laila) have been quick to note that he was a better person than he ever was a boxer. Humble in victory and defeat, I smile knowing that he is now humbly welcomed into the Savior's kingdom. Rest easy, champ.Mar 26, 2025
