“Mentality” - N4x6 6 by quirkandquill
“Mentality” is the sixth art piece in my abstract Nashville 4x6s series that I started in October 2022, and this piece is a little interesting in that as I was making it it felt a bit like a visual vibe of someone astral projecting or sending out their thoughts forward, hence the train of thought that led me to its current name. It’s always fun trying to come up with names for abstract pieces, doing free word association until I land on something that feels vaguely right (though as can be seen in previous pieces such as “Mael” sometimes I’m just coming up with words, chopping them up, or anagramming them to make something funky too). I remember that originally I had two different color schemes for this piece, one that was a bit darker in tone and background (this version) and one that was the inverse and lighter in overall scheme, but I went with this darker one since it felt like someone trying to escape their own mind, their own thoughts, which, as someone like me who deals with anxiety a lot, felt like it could be more relatable to a lot of other people too!If you dig this piece, “Mentality,” find it interesting in some way, or interpret it in a different light too, always feel free to let me know and I’ll be so happy to hear it!
