@bemdraws's post on Artfol
What's your opinion on people casually calling you "hun, sweetie, baby" etc. ? Like "Here's your coffee, hun." Does it depend on their age, where they're from, gender?
I guess it could depend on their intentions and how they're saying it. "Beautiful smile sweetie" could be nice, or it could be creepy.
Also just want to say thanks to all the kind people who responded to my last post which was a bit of a downer. Artfol community truly is like no other!!Apr 27, 2022

Where I'm from, people don't really address others like that. The ones that do are usually older ladies (never seen a man say that so far), and it's often accompanied by a lot of touching so I'm not comfortable with that

I can tolerate it because I’m just used to adults talking to me like that. I’m comforted if it’s my family.

Idk dude. I've always felt weird about strangers or acquaintances casually calling me pet names. Apparently it's normal and most people do it, but I still can't feel comfortable with it :/

i’m from the south (usa) so it’s pretty common so i’ve never thought of it as a creepy thing i actually kinda like it

I feel like I don’t rlly mind, especially from women
with men it’s a bit more complicated I‘d say but as long as it doesn’t seem creepy and they‘re not idk how old I dont rlly mind it
also it’s fine for my friends to call say something like that to me

Where I live it’s super common so I’ve never really thought about it that hard.
But yea I’m fine with it

I think it’s alright but draw the line when a waitress calls me “boss” flirtatiously. I think that’s just too weird for me
•
I've been called "sugar" or "honey" by waiters or cashiers, both men and women. From men, their tone is kind of teasing or flirtatious, I think I'm supposed to be bothered but I'm used to it so eh, nvm.

If it’s from any other woman regardless of age - go for it!
But if it’s from a man other than my dad, father-in-law to be, or my boyfriend, HAH. Forget it.

I live in the south, so i expect to hear it (especially older women / men tend to use 'bud') along with honorifics
•
My only exception is an older black woman calling me “baby” everything else is a no from me

•I feel like it's OK if we talked before and are short of like friends or at least liking each other?
I don't really mind if someone unknown says it, unless if it's with the sarcastic tone
