Open species: Nonlicet
Hey everyone who stumbled upon this in the challenge section of Artfol! :)
I'm Ricky and today I present to you an open species of mine:
The Nonlicet!
Nonlicet are a species I created and I'm very proud of them! They exist in a universe of mine which I'm gladly opening for you to join, however, there are certain rules to pay attention to!
To make you understand everything, I'll tell you about the basics of the species and the universe they live in in this post uwu
Now-
1. What's a Nonlicet?
The name "Nonlicet" can be translated as the "Unwanted" and to humans, Nonlicet are just that!
Nonlicet are humanoid beings with animal features (like cat ears or the horns of a goat and similar things), they usually have a supernatural ability as well.
Nonlicet are unwanted by society and stand on the same level of animals or objects. Nonlicet don't have human rights and live in districts dedicated to them.
2. What kind of world do Nonlicet live in?
Nonlicet live in a world created by the 3 gods (love, life and death, the existence of the gods is proven and known to people), where they are, sadly, discriminated by humans. Humans consider themselves as superior while they don't allow Nonlicet anything. Nonlicet aren't allowed to work, Nonlicet aren't allowed to marry, Nonlicet aren't allowed to have a religion, Nonlicet are not allowed to leave their district (unless a human made them their slave and took them out of the district).
The only support Nonlicet have is ONE overworked, young doctor who has a clinic in the district dedicated to Nonlicet.
A lot of Nonlicet follow these rules to different extents. Some obey and usually have a sad life, other's try to steal from humans to survive, some Nonlicet develope cannibalistic tendencies to get food, some Nonlicet hide their features/cut them off to appear human and work to get money, some Nonlicet hang around on the border of the district and present artistic abilities which they sometimes get paid for, there are SO MANY WAYS Nonlicet survive in this world!
3. How do YOU create a Nonlicet?
Take humanoid base, slap animal features onto them, give them an ability and some sort of story and BOOM, just like that you're done!
However, there are rules to the features:
- the features don't have to match ONE animal. You can take the ears of a cat with the horns of a goat for example.
-features that appear in pairs need to be the same. You can't take ONE rabbit ear and ONE cat ear. Take EITHER two rabbit ears OR two cat ears.
Those were the rules for the features
Now to the rules of the ability:
-DONT MAKE IT OVERPOWERED!!!
Don't make a Nonlicet whose ability is to kill others just by looking at them or something along those lines. Give your character a limit! "If my character makes eye contact with another being, they'll freeze for a minute , giving my character the time to run off or do whatever they desire to do over that minute", that's a lot better!

And just like that, you're done!
As I mentioned, there is actually a whole universe to this! There are characters I'd like to tell you about, there are important humans and important Nonlicet that , as soon as I introduced them, are absolutely free to interact with but those characters aren't on Artfol YET.
