Violet Spells

Hey there, that's a lovely painting, I really like the color scheme and overall mood 
for the critique, well sadly your lighting makes no sense, it does look good at the first glance but when you think about it it falls apart 
where is your light coming from? From what direction and from how many sources? The thing is, judging from her face it comming from above her bit the good doesn't react to that lightting at all, it seem like a soft lighting from below is applied on the hood with a very sharp light from behind the character, the second thing is shadows, the hood does not cast any shadow in any direction regardless if you choose the same direction as on the face or any other, the hood would cast a shadow and so does the hair where you can notice two different light sources each from one side yet none from above or below and this is what breaks your otherwise beautiful painting to pieces for the glow in the eyes, I would not be afraid to let them cast a lot more of the purple light, in fact can you imagine the hood casting a shadow down towards the nose, so basically the eyes would be in shadow as well ( and naturally the shadows under the nose would be a lot longer as well) and in the darkness the purple eyes would glow like a beacons, illuminating the surface close to them like the sides of the nose and below her eyebrows 
that would be cool as well :) anyway I hope i did provide you with some good ideas and feedback to focus on in your future paintings

•She's beautiful, I really adore her hair and her face. I don't see anything bad, the shadows are amazing, especially that little purple light around her eyes. She's really gorgeous. And your style as well.
