Been thinking about a certain Masterkey character's parents, mainly how to make them better/more likeable characters, because rn I feel like people won't care that they are dead. I recently saw a panel of Batman sobbing over his parents, and it got me all sad, just that panel, and it made me really want to work on my character's parents and his relationship with them before they passed away in his
️tragic backstory️
I'm probably going to overhaul the father's concept. Right now he's kind of a lamebrain and I'm struggling to justify certain things because of that, like what the mother saw in him that made her want to marry him, and also why his son turned out the way he does. It would make more sense if there was some kind of precedent for his personality traits, bc right now it just seems random. Basically every Masterkey character has undergone significant recharacterization since I began scripting. Putting stuff on paper made me realize how little some of my characters have changed since I came up with them years ago, when the story was pretty different than it is now. So I should be doing some restructuring, methinks.
