Deja VuMy entry for this year's comic awards :3 So, storytime!!!

These two cats are spirits. The black panther is Jade, he grows plants and the siamese piebald one is Ivory, she supervises water, ensures the water fulfills the cycle it runs for a billion years now. Things were fine for a very long time.

Until humans came and started to drastically change the environment. Being nature/elemental spirits as they are, both Jade and Ivory feels the destruction, but they see the final outcome of it differently.

Fun facts:

- Since Ivory's power is water, she is usually can be seen - well, if humans could see her - with water droplets flying and following her around. But ever since the water is being polluted close to the cities, she, as the represntation of clean, healthy water loosing her droplets

- What Jade refers to as "we saw this 4 times already" are the 4 mass exictiont events from Earth's past. Currently, we are living the 5th one and humanity is the reason it is happening. The climate change we triggered and fueling, the deforesting, overpopulating, loosing biodiversity and basically kicking up the planet's sensitive balance high up in the sky is resulting in loosing species more rapidly than ever before.

- No, neither Jade or Ivory had these forms in the past. These are their current form, sampled from the current evolution results. But back in time they had different forms - when different species ruled over the planet. Yes, this means they once were dinosaurs too :D And even the more primitive animal forms. Artistically I picked these cats for them, because Jade, being a black panther, living in South America and jungles have tons of plants and various plant species(? Is species the current word for plants too?) And I knew I wanna make him a flower boi, so a Jungle kid seemed only logical. Ivory is originally a Jaguar, but I do love the leopard's more slender body. As an end result I sometimes draw her as a leopard with jaguar spots, but me being lazy AF, more than not I use lepoard spots for her instead. But! She is originally a jaguar, and jaguars LOVE water - and Ivory is a water spirit.

- If you noticed the text colour changes - good catch! That's not an accident - the text goes full black as they get into more heavy topic, and goes back to white as Ivory is accepting how the only way to continue on is accepting that she cannot cahnge things outside of her reach and just move on, not worry about things she cannot change or avoid.

And now, my personal notes:
ANJDHJDGZFGDSHFDHASD, OMG I AM FINALLY DONE!

I know there is a lot of time still until the deadline, but I missed last year's contest and I am so fully packed with projects this year, but really wanted to participate, so I pushed it hard and now. Because how long it can take to draw 9 panels on 1 page in greyscale, right? ...Right???? TURNS OUT, IT TAKES LONG, ESPECIALLY IF YOU ARE A GENIUS LIKE ME AND PICKING SPOTTED CATS AS MAIN CHARACTERS! I started to work on it slowly, then got bored with not going anywher with it, sat down and pushed it hard. Took me 3 days - approxx 10 hrs for 2 days and 5 more the third day - to finalyl draw it all. Slept 10 hours altogether during these days, bc i was too excited to fall asleep, I kept seeing my canvas with closed eyes and were thinking of panel orders and placement at 1 am. This project was a big one, but i am so glad i did it! It was so challenging - like first time i drew a city - in a media, that i do not have lots of experience in (this is my second comic project) and I don't even read comics. But damn I love drawing them :D It challenges me as an artist and gives me a new way to tell a story. One of my best projects this year, this comic was, loving it.

Seeing nature revive so quickly during 2020 was so magical. I'm sure life will find a way despite us humans.
Hey your art is truly incredible! I had a question. Can you pls tell me what is the size of the canvas you used?
Your art is absolutely stunning but what is the size requirement for this comp?

This is spectacular, Moc! I am in love with the black and white route you took on this! It just adds so much gravity and meaning to the message of the comic. Truly fantastic work! Good luck in the competition!!
Oh my goodness this is absolutely incredible!! The composition, the design, even the font choice is entrancing. Incredible job on this, and good luck in the competition !!
The composition is engrossing, and your characters intrigue me; also, the concept of this narrative is deeply existential. Sounds like you worked hard for this. I hope you're successful with the contest!
This looks so goooood! Best of luck in the contest!!!
