Letter from JadeAmber Williams finally got a (somewhat) debeloped backstory :D
She was born a daughter of a high-ranking councillor, and appointed at an early age to be “Companion to the Princess” due to them being social equals, and the political leverage it would give the Council in terms of leverage, influence and surveillance.
Once the king had been assasinated, and the queen died during childbirth to the youngest prince, Amber's father and the rest of the Council expected the princess to be removed, and for Amber to marry the prince, which would ensure their influence in the court, but the princess escaped unexpectedly.
As Jade escaped the castle and fleed into the mountains, Amber helped her survive secretly. This strenghtened their already existing bond.
Once Jade returned to the castle, still under the Council's control, Amber was once again appointed, this time as the Lady of the Bedchamber.
This is roughly where my story ends in it's present time. In the future, Amber becomes Queen Consort to Jade, and Jayden ends up with Nix eventually.
Considering princesses usually had multiple ladies-in-waiting, I wanted to depict a scene where Amber is among them, and recieves a letter from her beloved.
