Alegna human formAlegna is the goddess of trade, promises and oaths in our DND campaign (or god because he’s gender fluid :D). There are a total of 7 gods in our world, each assigned a planet and inspired by an animal of our choice and a member of our friend group (loosely based on our physical appearance, personality and interests). I'm the deity of trade because I jokingly defend capitalism from time to time (but am I really joking? O_O). The funny thing is, we’ve been playing this campaign for 2 years, but we only discovered the gods were based on us a few months ago, because we realised their names were our second names spelt backwards. On Alegna: he’s a neutral god, protector of Hucha (the planet my DND character comes from) that oversees all promises, oaths and trades. She isn’t strictly restricted to commercial trade, because any exchange falls under her jurisdiction: working on completing a project, spending time with your loved ones to make them happy, ratting out someone for your freedom, these are all technically trades where you give something up (your time, your love, your loyalty), in exchange for something else (success, love, freedom). She's the embodiment of “everything has a price”, and “you don’t get anything without first giving something”. Alegna doesn’t really care about the fairness of a trade; All he wants is for parties to willingly engage in the exchange, and for each person to respect their end of the bargain. It was common for people to end their contracts or oral agreements with "In the name of Alegna", asking her to witness and uphold the promises made. Still, his name was also used in everyday scenarios when you were expecting to get something out of a situation (for example, students revising late at night for their exams would pray to Alegna for their sacrifice of sleep to be worthwhile). Her symbols are the double circle (representing the two asteroid belts of Hucha), the net, the scale and the "blue flame of sacrifice". The fire is the metaphorical and literal embodiment of the sacrifice you are willing to make to obtain something. When she oversees a trade, each party will “burn” the thing they are willing to give up before receiving the counterpart. Members of “the House of Alegna” (meaning her closest followers), would be engulfed by the blue flame during an initiation ceremony while they pledged their loyalty to Alegna, embodying the sacrifice of their being to her cause. After the ceremony, the fires spells of magic users would turn blue. The net that ornates her scale represents the sanctity of the pact in which you are "trapped", the duty to stay true to your word. Finally, the blade of wheat in her mouth is a pen she uses to log all trades and promises on her scarf. It’s said that signing a contract with her saliva, which is a golden colour, makes that contract unbreakable. Alegna is a very adventurous god; she’s a history buff who loves to explore and collect different artefacts to trade. He’s friendly and chatty (how else would you be inclined to trade with someone) and always plays by the rules. While she avoids making enemies, she resentful, and never forgets someone who's crossed her.
WHOO CAPITALISM! Just been scrolling through like months of my following-timeline and I can’t believe I missed this gem of a drawing from you! Like that sounds like such a fun character to play (I never played dnd so I don’t know if gods are even „playable“)
