Two prompts in one post again
Story Lore challenge 29: bread
The closest thing to bread that’s mentioned in the story thus far is sugar-covered buns that the kids buy from one of the elves at the market. This baker elf is called Walo and the buns are referred to as "Walos sukkerboller"
Story lore challenge 30: word or name you made up
So the name Jalow (pronounced Ja–lov) started with the word yellow and just shifted spelling over time; Yelow Yalow Jelow Jalow ?? I dont remember the exact process but it was just a weird placeholder name at first that stuck but I played around with the spelling here and there – the first draft is such a mess when it comes to the names bc they’re almost all inconsistent,, but apparently it’s a surname in some places? Same with Okaro that I also thought I made up
And then "Kjerringsteinen" is just two already existing words put together and it’s what Vinni calls this one magic stone (properly called Sjelesteinen /the stone of souls) but it has a hole in it and there really aren’t a Norwegian word for ‘hag stone’ or ‘adder stone’ I’ve tried to research and cant find anything so I directly translated it to ‘kjerringstein’ And actually "Kjerringsteinen" is a hike in Norway but the word itself is not really anything else than this boulder ppl hike to, not really an original word I made up but I made my own translation for ‘hag stone’ and gave the word kjerringstein that meaning for this story.
Btw ‘kjerring’ is not as much of a rude word as hag or crone, its more like just an old woman but still sounds a bit rude in modern days I suppose xD it’s so hard to explain the stuff in this story sometimes due to it being written in Norwegian…
I actually smoosh a lot of pre-existibg words together to create new ones in this story, like with Trollstøv and Trollspeil that I’ve talked about before
Also, I guess I made up the word ‘ochichi’ for those little creatures I drew for one of the previous prompts, but I haven’t looked it up wich I probably should in case it’s a word in other languages
This turned out a bit rambly and longer than intended, sorry
